It’s always good to reward the efforts our students go to. I use a number of different charts and certificates to encourage and reward the children. Within my teaching programme I have a 50 Days Club. The students each get a chart with 50 boxes on it and each day they practice they can fill in one box. Once they have the full 50 boxes filled they bring it back and I give them a certificate. They get to put their names up on the classroom wall on my 50 Days Club. And so they get their next 50 Days chart and march onward towards the 100 Days Club.
Other Certificates I like to use are Great Student, and Great Bowhold. I use these more in a large class setting where it is more difficult to encourage every child individually. I usually just pop one or two out at the end of the class and award them to whoever I think could benefit most from them. Sometimes it can be more beneficial to the students who didn’t get the certificate as they try harder the next week, or at least try to remain focused. I hope to add another of these certificates for Good Behaviour soon.
